brake tips and foreign vehicles

Brake Tips for Foreign Vehicles

There is no hard fast rule on how often you should do service for your brakes as the timetable for how long your brakes last depends wholly on how you drive. Driving more on the highway versus in the city could help your brakes last longer. However, if you’re always caught in stop and go traffic then, the benefits of driving on highways are lost. All in all, it’s best to pay attention to how your vehicle drives and try these brake tips for foreign vehicles.

Have a certified technician inspect your brakes every oil change

Take the guesswork out and let a professional handle it. That’s the best way to ensure your luxury vehicle drives and stops as it was designed to do. No need to schedule an extra service appointment, just ask the techs to check your brakes while getting your oil changed. The technicians at Superior Exotics Team are always ready and willing to help. If you come in for an oil change on your foreign vehicle, don’t hesitate to ask us to check your brakes.

Don’t wait for your brakes to start singing that sad song to replace them

If your vehicle’s brakes are making noise such as a squealing or grinding sound, schedule an appointment with a technician right away. More than likely the brake pads just need replacing. However, waiting too long and driving on low brake pads can damage your rotors, which are far more to replace. If you’d like to arrange your vehicle to be picked up, serviced, then returned. Superior Exotics Team can help, call us and inquire about our concierge service.

Don’t forget the brake fluid

The unsung hero of your braking mechanism, brake fluid. If this fluid gets too low your vehicle’s brakes won’t work at all. Brake fluid is what lubricates the pressurizing system allowing the caliper to properly apply pressure to the brake pad. Your vehicle should tell you when if your brake fluid levels are low, but it doesn’t hurt to ask your service technician to check.

Being proactive in the maintenance of your luxury vehicle can help extend its life past the warranty. Let the seasoned professionals at Superior Exotics Team help you keep your foreign luxury vehicle running like new. Call or schedule an appointment online with us today.

Porsche 991

Getting to Know the Porsche 911

Porchse 911 Exterior Options

With the onset of the 911 generations, Porsche decided to take things into a different direction. They introduced fun colors and dramatic interior options to match the market for supercars. The dynamic color options included UltraViolet and Lava Orange on the GT3RS or Acid Green on the GT3. Plus more striking colors such as Mexico Blue, Miami Blue both aquamarine hues of blue. The Porsche 911 comes in a Racing Green color akin to a forest green. Lastly, is the Chalk on the Porsche, a sophisticated variant of the traditional Carrara white.

Porsche 911 Transmission and Miles

If you’re looking for the pizzazz of a Porsche without that high sticker price, try opting for a manual transmission. It should also be noted, utilizing manual to its fullest potential takes some skill. However, if you’ve mastered it then it’s a great way to save on a few thousand dollars.

Another great way to save on a Porsche purchase is to buy a slightly older model. For instance, buying a 2014, 2015, or 2016 model could save you a significant amount of change. This should be done with great caution to avoid wasting your money on a failed investment. Check the PPI of the vehicle to have some idea of what the price has been and what it’s forecasted to be. In addition, remember the 5k rule for all exotic vehicles. Whatever pre-owned exotic vehicle you’re looking to purchase should have about five thousand miles per year on it. For instance, a 2016 Porsche 911 should have 15k miles on it in 2019. This is important for resale value.

Porsche 911 Maintenance

As with any vehicle, who you choose to perform preventative maintenance is very important. This is multiplied five-fold for all exotic vehicles, especially the Porsche 911. The technicians at Superior Exotics Team are trained by the factory on how to perform maintenance on these supercars. Moreover, we have the correct machines to care for your Porsche 911.

As of now, there are two known issues with these Porsches. The first one is rather serious for some models. In its inaugural year, the Porsche GT3 exhibited major issues with its engine. The 2014 model had multiple cars catch fire, leading to all delivered units to be fitted with replacement engines.

Lastly, is the issue with the Porsche Stability Management System. This issue is caused by a host of things such as software malfunctions or faulty brake switches. If you’re purchasing a pre-owned Porsche 911 be sure to look out for this. These issues may be covered under warranty but it is up to you to do your due diligence on the vehicle.

How to Diagnose Car Problems If You Don’t Know Much About Cars

If something goes wrong with your car and you don’t know much about car repair, then it’s time to go to the shop and find out what’s wrong. However, lots of people are understandably worried about getting ripped off—mechanics are pretty good at detecting when a customer doesn’t know anything about cars. To avoid this, it’s a good idea to narrow down the possibilities of what’s going on inside your car.

The warning lights on your dashboard are the most obvious starting point. Yet the most common, the Check Engine light, can be utterly confusing because it can cover problems ranging widely in severity. Others, like the engine temperature light, tire pressure light, or oil light are more straightforward to decipher. Regardless of what lights up, never ignore it. Delaying a diagnosis and repair could lead to even bigger problems down the road.
